Exquisite European Chamber Music
The representatives of the talented and multi-numbered Järvi family from Estonia visit Rīga at last. Two brothers Järvi – violoncellist Marius and pianist Mihkel (both musicians are the grandsons of the family patriarch’s Neeme brother Vallo) – clarinettist Guy Spielman is going to perform: he is a young Australian who’s studied at the Musikhochschule Lübeck in the clarinet class of Sabine Meyer and Reiner Wehle, and currently works at the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra (Principal Clarinet).
The programme of the concert is rich and varied: along with the core values of the classical repertoire – like Brahms’ Trio, the set of Bruch’s 4 miniatures and the duo by Schumann – we’ll have a chance to enjoy the wonderful Clarinet Sonata by Poulenc, Introduction and Toccata by Finnish Swede Einar Englund who spent his life “in the shadow of Sibelius”; and an original composition by René Eespere who belongs to the senior generation of Estonian composers.
