The Latvian Radio choir. Reinis Zariņš. Concert exhibition "Velvet green"
Along with the first luscious strokes of vivid color in the tree canopies, the tempestuous passion of summer is tamed by the autumnal cumulus clouds and veils of mist. The sky crossroads hear departing birds elegiacally calling out as they sing their farewell song to the scenery of their homeland in the dusk of summer. These are just some of the scenes Jānis Ivanovs captured and weaved into his vocalises - choral miniatures without words. Like laconic visions, they each paint a different feeling and complement the artworks of the Zuzeum Art Centre collection.
Velvet Green will be an unusual concert exhibition. Fleeting sonic paintings will meet rhythms captured on canvas; Jānis Ivanovs vocal lyricism will play with Imants Zemzaris’ piano miniatures; the voices of the Latvian Radio Choir will echo the ineffable touch of Reinis Zariņš. Following the outline of Jānis Ivanovs sonic/color sketches, the autumnal scenery will be enriched by the light artist Jūlija Bondarenko. Let the contemplation and observation of sonic paintings in a visual arts exhibition serve as an individual bookmark for this peculiar bloom of autumn!
