Autumn Chamber Music Festival Opening Concert. Beethoven, Schubert and Vasks

The outstanding Latvian violinist Vineta Sareika and her peers – cellist Christian Pierre La Marca and pianist Amandine Savary – have named their piano trio as a reference to the precious marble that is obtained in the Chinese city of Dali. The inventive creative impulse associated with the marble of Dali reflects the views of Trio Dali about the basic artistic values. Trio Dali have fully justified their name winning the 1st place and the Gold Medal in the International Chamber Music Competition held in Osaka, as well as in other prestigious competitions. Two years ago the trio recorded a CD with music by Maurice Ravel in the label Fuga Libera, Harmonia Mundi, which has been highly appreciated by the critics: the recording received the prominent estimation of 10 de Répertoire and became the CD of the month of the French music journal Classica. The musicians of the trio have diverse temperaments and different races of life, but they are joined by close bonds of friendship and perfect mutual understanding in music. This autumn we’ll listen to the Trio Dali performing classical piano trios by Beethoven and Schubert and the chamber version of “Plainscapes” by Pēteris Vasks, which will be performed for the first time in Latvia, demonstrating how the protrait of mildly wavy plains of Latvia, written for cello and choir, sounds in the version with the three briliant chamber musicians.
