Sinfonietta Rīga and Jörg Widmann. Mozart, Beethoven, Schumann

Riga's beloved Jörg Widmann returns in triple force - in one night, he will show his multiple talents as a composer, clarinettist, and conductor. The exuberant programme that brings the audience on a musical journey from Classical era Vienna to our times, gives a chance for Sinfonietta Rīga artists to feel and perform as one musical mind and body, and to shine as the brilliant chamber musicians that they are. The perpetual energy, theatricality, passion, collaborative nature and virtuosity of Widmann's own chamber works never ceases to astonish and captivate. Along with the joyful, uplifting and majestic opuses of Mozart and Beethoven, the masters of the Classical era, we will also bow to the early modernist Sándor Veress. The programme concludes with Robert Schumann's Overture, Scherzo and Finale that the melancholy dreamer himself described as “a symphony without the slow movement”.
