Vineta Sareika. Sonatas by Edvard Grieg

Vineta Sareika holds first chair in the world-famous Artemis Quartet, and she is equally brilliant as a soloist and as a participant in ensembles.  She has appeared in Vienna, New York, Paris, Brussels, London, Berlin and elsewhere, and between concerts on the world’s most important concert stages, she regularly returns home.  This time she will be appearing with Amandine Savary, one of the most brilliant young pianists from France.  Amandine, together with the cellist Christian-Pierre La Marca, used to be part of Vineta’s Trio Dali.  In this programme, the artists will shed light on the music of the famous Norwegian lyricist Edvard Grieg, whose life was stormy, indeed.  The composer himself has said that the three sonatas that will be heard tonight clearly illustrate three creative period in his life, from youthful delight and warm simplicity to light passions and mature beliefs.  Grieg’s style is inimitable, always presenting the wild beauty of Norway and echoes from Norwegian folklore.
